TREATMENT

We have tried many different products and brands in the past, and yes, the choice of product determines the final result. And tastes and colors differ. Some like satin effect, others like shiny while others prefer the product to look as natural as possible. This is definitely the case for tree trunk tables.

We have included in our range a number of products in close consultation with the manufacturer of these products, namely “1919 by Mauler”. A French family business that has been around since 1919 and specializes in woodworking products.

When visiting our depot in Jodoigne, we will be happy to show you some examples of different treatments so that you can make an informed choice.

In addition to the products already pre-selected for you, it is always possible to order other products from their very wide range through us.

For teak we recommend the “Nude” or the “Végétale”. The Végétale allows the teak to be more in its fat and thus shines a little more. The Nude has a super matte look and therefore the treatment is less noticeable.

Both products perfectly protect the teak furniture from all daily use stains in a living room or bathroom.

SUAR wood is known for its cream-colored edges (the bark of the wood) and its brown, dark heartwood. Therefore, it is important to know how treatment affects the color of these cream-colored edges.

Many products have an effect whereby these edges become more brownish or yellowish (usually the result of an oil in the products). Some like this while others absolutely want to avoid it.

So there are different options here depending on the final result you want so that everyone can find what they like and create their dream table.

You can opt for an “invisible treatment” that penetrates into the wood to protect it. These products do not put a “layer” on the wood so the wood still feels natural.

A top product in this category is “Le Nude” from “1919 by Mauler”.

You can also opt for a varnish that leaves a “coating” on the wood. We have selected some products that leave little or no yellowing on the creamy edge. Indeed, most varnishes on the market have a strong discoloring effect, hence it is not easy to find a suitable product for Suar tree trunk tables.

Our choices:

“Le suprême” matte from ”1919 by Mauler, colorless matte.

 “Le suprême” cire from ”1919 by Mauler, colorless wax-look.

Never use a pressure washer or the like. This will destroy the “softer” wood and allow more dirt, greenery and water to penetrate onto and into your furniture which will cause your furniture to break down at an accelerated rate, especially with frost.

Therefore, for de-graying teak furniture, we recommend the “Ca Dégrise” from the French manufacturer Mauler. This product ensures that the wood is degreased and regains its original color after treatment without destroying the wood. Highly recommended to de-grease your teak garden furniture with little effort.

For this you can use the “Le Musclé” by Mauler so that the wood is degreased and clean and the chosen product is not repelled by dirt or grease. 

When we do the treatment we put 3 coats on the furniture, we charge 50€ per m² + the price of the varnish.
